ScrappyUpstarts.com
Coming off this Paul Graham article Why to start a startup in a bad economy - Kevin Rose, founder of Digg and general Scrappy Entrepreanue hero, discusses starting up before there is a web 3.0 in this recent video post.
Rose points out that the darlings of Web 2.0 were actually started very early on, maybe even before web 2.0 had been identified. Then once it got into full swing there were too many startups launching so often that it was hard to gain traction for these sites, and the really early sites, like Digg, prevailed.>Interesting to me is his mention of Scrappy entrepreneurs I sat down to write this blog - the next thing I know 0 it is 14 hours later and I haven’t left my desk. I was hell-bent on creating something that paid homage to us scrappy entrepreneurs - so I created ScrappyUpstarts.com.
And since I have been at it for 14+ hours, I’ll just let the about us page explain it:
Some of the best companies were founded during an economic downturn - it just took the tenactity of scrappy upstart entrepreneurs. That is what this site is dedicated to - those upstarts.
Most companies will succeed or fail in any economy but those with true, dedicated upstarts at the helm have a much better chance.
We’ll attempt to celebrate those upstarts, give advice, and point to the ever growing inexpensive resources on the web to help grow your upstart.
